Saving Lives, One Donation at a Time.

In a medical emergency, every second counts. That’s why VEHC maintains a blood bank right here in Concord. By providing immediate access to blood and plasma, we give pets facing immune-mediated diseases and life-threatening injuries the best possible chance at recovery.

 

Our program is built on a foundation of safety and gratitude. We adhere to rigorous collection standards to protect our donor heroes while supporting the life-saving practice of veterinary transfusion medicine. We are honored to bridge the gap between our healthy donor community and the families who need them most.

Requirements for donors:

  • Friendly with no existing health conditions

  • 1-7 years old

  • >50lbs for dogs, >10lbs for cats

  • Up to date on vaccines and preventions including flea/tick,             (+ heartworm for dogs)

  • No history of prior transfusion

  • Not taking any medications (other than prevention)

  • Indoor only (cats)

  • Willingness to donate 6 times per year​

Benefits for donors:

  • Credit of $150/annually applied to your primary care vet account for vaccinations. (If you do not have a general practice vet, we will supply your vaccinations at no cost). 

  • Comprehensive blood screening and health check at no cost

  • 15% off all emergency services for the life of the donor

  • Free blood products for life, should the donor ever need them

  • Free toys, bandanas, etc. with each donation

  • Donors are featured right here on our website and social media channels​
