Dr. Johnson

Emergency Veterinarian

Dr. Johnson

Dr. Johnson brings a decade of seasoned veterinary experience and a deep passion for collaborative emergency medicine to the VEHC team. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from Clemson University, followed by earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine. For the past ten years, she has dedicated her career to the fast-paced world of emergency care, where she thrives on the critical decision-making and rapid teamwork required to save lives.

She excels in high-stakes clinical environments, with particular clinical interests in emergency surgery, complex wound management, and advanced pain control. For Dr. Johnson, the ultimate reward of her work is being a steady anchor for families during their most vulnerable moments and getting to watch a pet transition from a life-threatening situation to heading safely home.

Dr. Johnson’s best advice for pet owners is that you know your pets better than we ever could. If you feel like something is wrong, it is always better to get them checked out as soon as you can so that small problems do not develop into bigger, more serious ones.

When she isn't in the ER, Dr. Johnson enjoys painting and art, reading, and spending quality time with her family, including her husband, Miles, and her son, August. Her positive energy carries over from her days as a college cheerleader at Clemson University to her busy home life in the Concord area.

Her home is shared with a perfectly balanced pair of rescue dogs : Cooper, a 6-year-old hound mix who is a crazy, high-energy guy who loves playing ball just as much as he loves to cuddle ; and Sadie, a 3-year-old Staffordshire Terrier mix who is a goofy, lazy girl with the hilarious quirk of needing to lie directly on top of Cooper at all times.

If she could have any superpower in the ER, it would be the ability to speak to her patients to truly understand what they are feeling and how to help them better.

Why she loves VEHC: "I love the positive attitude and team-environment that exists at VEHC. Everyone truly loves their job and is excited to be there every day to work together in order to help our clients and patients in every way we can."
