Dr. Karriker

Medical Director and Emergency Veterinarian

As the Medical Director of VEHC, Dr. Karriker brings an elite level of academic excellence and clinical precision to our team. A Valedictorian graduate of St. George’s University, Dr. Karriker spent four years living in Grenada, West Indies, before returning to the States to dedicate her career to the fast-paced world of emergency medicine.

Dr. Karriker thrives in high-stakes environments where minutes matter. She is particularly passionate about transfusion medicine, trauma care, and managing complex autoimmune disorders. Her expertise is backed by active memberships in the Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine (AVHTM) and the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS). For Dr. Karriker, the ultimate reward of her work is witnessing a pet go from a life-threatening crisis to a happy reunion with their family.

Dr. Karriker’s Best Advice: "Trust your gut. You know your pet better than anyone else. If you feel like something is wrong, don't hesitate, get them checked out."

When she isn't leading the clinical team at VEHC, Dr. Karriker is a traveler, a baker, and a self-proclaimed rap music enthusiast. She enjoys exploring the local Concord scene, specifically 44 Mills Kitchen and Tap and Sip Co., or unwinding at a spa after a long shift.

Her own animal family keeps her busy: she shares her home with Pooh, a 14-year-old Staffordshire Terrier; Dill, a Pitbull who has a hilarious "sneeze on command" trick but a serious grudge against the Amazon driver; and Heart, a 25-year-old retired Thoroughbred racehorse that reflects her early career roots in the racing industry.

Why she loves VEHC: "The community feel and the positive team that supports both patient healing and client education."
