In a medical emergency, every second counts. That’s why VEHC maintains a blood bank right here in Concord. By providing immediate access to blood and plasma, we give pets facing immune-mediated diseases and life-threatening injuries the best possible chance at recovery.
Our program is built on a foundation of safety and gratitude. We adhere to rigorous collection standards to protect our donor heroes while supporting the life-saving practice of veterinary transfusion medicine. We are honored to bridge the gap between our healthy donor community and the families who need them most.

Interested in enrolling your pet?

Requirements for donors:

Friendly with no existing health conditions
-
1-7 years old
-
>50lbs for dogs, >10lbs for cats
-
Up to date on vaccines and preventions including flea/tick, (+ heartworm for dogs)
-
No history of prior transfusion
-
Not taking any medications (other than prevention)
-
Indoor only (cats)
-
Willingness to donate 6 times per year​

Benefits for donors:

Credit of $150/annually applied to your primary care vet account for vaccinations. (If you do not have a general practice vet, we will supply your vaccinations at no cost).

Comprehensive blood screening and health check at no cost

15% off all emergency services for the life of the donor

Free blood products for life, should the donor ever need them

Free toys, bandanas, etc. with each donation
